I'm sure at some point someone is going to get offended....That was my disclaimer by the way. Girls....where to start? I can exclude most of the women that I know but on a whole there is something terrible taking place. I am going to take a second to try and explain this. There is a huge divide between a real woman and what is portrayed through TV, magazines etc. I in all honesty feel terrible for women I mean they are told that they are not acceptable unless they are a certain model number and size. Now in some cases this is a necessary approach,
but with most it is quite unnecessary and possibly damaging over time...I am not sure how I would have turned out if I lived in a world that worships people like Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton. Whats that I do? Well yes, I do but i choose to tune out and even go as far as not admitting that these atrocities exist. Ok so we have both sides of the spectrum to look at now. On one side the is a way of life where you are happy with yourself while being left out by many because of you choice. On the other side you have an overly anxious, self absorbed, money flusher but hey, she looks "hot" and is accepted by others chasing the same illusion. So who is to blame? Society as a whole? Men? Women? Corporations or media? There is no single answer because society has interwoven these factors all together. I am going to place examples of beauty and examples of horror all from the lens of my own eye.
Paris Hilton:GROSS!
Kari from Mythbusters: Beautiful HA!
Lindsay Lohan at her finest, siiiiiiiick:
Mary Louise Parker:
I will admit on the last one she does play a bit of a hooker on Weeds.
Anyway, enough examples you know what i am saying. Whats worse is that this fact about American culture saddens me and I am not even involved and actively try to block it out. Real girls rock but please don't be like either of the women in the first picture.
